sale to the highest bidder of the Opel plant in Antwerp

The German automaker Opel will offer for sale to auction its Belgian plant in Antwerp.
Opel, the European subsidiary of General Motors, has since 2009 implemented a comprehensive restructuring plan including the removal by 2015 of 8,300 jobs from a total of 48,000 and the closure of the Antwerp plant.

After searching unsuccessfully for a buyer, Opel has finally opted for the auction of the Antwerp plant which is scheduled for March 2011. The Maynards
company specializing in the auction of industrial and commercial sites, just published on its website a listing for this assignment.

The Antwerp plant, whose production has been stopped only a few days ago (end of December 2010), employed about 2,500 people.
a built surface of 400,000 square meters, it was dedicated to assembling the Opel Astra 3 door and 5 (maximum capacity of 60 vehicles per hour).
